The Joy in Finding What Is Lost

This Sabbath we were able to hear from Pastor Mark about what he really loves, and that is PEOPLE! For his message we went through Luke 15:4-32. This whole passage is about finding lost things. We are called by Yahweh to keep seeking what is lost until it is found.

In the parable of the shepherd seeking his lost sheep, we see that for this shepherd the lost sheep takes priority. He leaves the other sheep to search for his lost sheep until it is found. Not only does he find his sheep, but he takes care to carry it back to the flock, rejoicing! When he returns home he calls upon his community to celebrate with him! We see that in this parable the shepherd is Yahshua, and we see that the sheep are us. Yahshua takes care to seek out those who have wandered from the flock to care for them and bring them back, rejoicing with all of heaven that they have found their way home!

Next we looked at the parable of the woman with the lost coin. Looking at this we can often think that it was just one coin, what's the big deal? This was 1/10 of all that she owned! It is not about how many items we have but the value of the item. In this parable we see that Yahshua gives ownership and responsibility for that which is lost. We are responsible for seeking out those who are lost, and rejoicing when they find their way home to Yahweh!

Finally we looked at the parable of the prodigal son. Most of us are familiar with this story, we have heard it taught about for years. We know that the father represents Yahweh, and the sons represent the elements of Yah's children. Everyone is a child of Yahweh, many are saved but most are not. When the prodigal son returns to the father after squandering his inheritance and living in sin, he is welcomed with open arms and a celebration!

It is important to recognize the great value of what is lost! We need to be willing to go to great lengths to search for the lost around us, and have great joy when they are found! We need to celebrate with our church communities on earth, just as there is great celebration in Heaven!

We are so thankful to have been able to hear this message from Pastor Mark D. Vlad. It is an important reminder to us of what Yahweh values and what we need to be doing as believers!

If you are in need of a church to call home and celebrate with, we would love to welcome you to our Sabbath services. We meet every Saturday at 2pm!
