Where Do You Go For Refuge?

Where do you go for refuge in times of trouble?

This Sabbath we heard from Pastor Mark D. Vlad about how Yahweh provides refuge for his people. We see this first with Noah. Yahweh gave him not only the plans, but the grace, wisdom, and strength to build the Ark. Noah walked close with Yahweh and Yahweh made sure that not only Noah, but also his family were given safety and provision when the storm came.

Next we studied the story of Ruth. Ruth was rejected from her family because she married outside of her culture. She hung tight to her husband and his family. After her husband, brother-in-law, and father-in-law died, Naomi told her to go back home to her people. Instead of obeying, she clung to Naomi, she begs to stay with her and saying that she will live as she lives, and worship Yahweh as she worships. Throughout the rest of the story we see how Yahweh provides for her. Yahweh used the circumstances of her life to give her refuge, leading to her becoming the Great, Great Grandmother of King David.

Someone we know saw Yahweh as a refuge was King David. There are many times throughout the Psalms that we see him calling out to Yahweh as a strong shelter, a tower, a tabernacle. Throughout the struggles and trials that he faced, he knew that Yah would be with him. In Psalm 27:5, we see him understanding that Yahweh protects His people. He doesn't necessarily put us in a stronghold physically, but He provides us shelter from our spiritual enemies. This thought continues into Proverbs, were we call upon the name of Yahweh and are provided safety.

Lastly we talked about John 10:25-30, where the sheep hear the voice of the Shepherd and they follow Him. The security of the sheep lies in the power of the Shepherd, not in the failure of the sheep. When we return to Yahshua, something special happens. We are etched and placed in the palms of Yahshua's hands. When that happens, NOTHING and NO ONE can snatch you away.

If you are in need of a church home, or you have fallen away from the faith, we would love to welcome you home. We meet every Saturday at 2pm for Sabbath Service, with time for fellowship after!
