Where Do You Stand
During Sabbath this week, Eean Johnson-Schaar took a look at how anxiety and fear have no control over us when we stand firm in our faith in Yahweh.
We looked at 1 Peter 5:8, "Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour."
A roaring lion can insight fear and anxiety, however a lion who roars while hunting often is feeling threatened. The fact that we exist as children of Yahweh is frightening to the devil. When we are being attacked, our first instinct can be to run, but the scriptures tell us to stand firm in our faith.
Many believers around the world experience the same types of suffering. 1 Corinthians 10:12-13 tell us to take a stand, for what is tempting to us is common to what most people go through. Instead of focusing on all of the ways that we can fight our way out of hardships. we can trust that Yahweh has provided a way out. We need to stand in that faith and trust that He will do what He says He will do. 1 Peter 5:6 tells us that the Mighty Hand of Yahweh will deliver us!
But what about the trials that seem to be unique to us, that no one else could be experiencing? How do we have faith in Yahweh then? In Exodus 14:13 the people of Israel were in an uncommon place. They could either die by the swords of the Egyptians, or by drowning in the Red Sea. "Fear not, STAND, and see the salvation of Yahweh." Yahweh made sure that they were able to live and see the promises He had given to them.
Pride and anxiety are something that go hand in hand. Being anxious keeps the focus on you, similar to how we think of ourselves when we are prideful. We need to humble ourselves and cast our cares and anxieties on Him, then with our focus on Yahweh we will be able to trust that He will deliver us.
If you need encouragement or are seeing a place to worship Yahweh with fellow believers, we would love to have you join us for Service! We meet every Saturday at 2pm.
