Yahshua Tames the Crowd
Religious people don't care about what Yahshua is doing with people. There is only one thing they care about: their own doctrines. This leaves little to no room for grace or mercy, only their interpretations of the scriptures.
In John 8:1-12, we see a woman caught in the act of adultery being brought before Yahshua. The leaders of the group wanted to test Yahshua and make Him admit that Moses' law was preeminent, and that the only course of action was to put her to death. We know, however, that Moses' law merely pointed the way to Yahshua.
This is an example of religion versus relationship. There are many ways we test Yahshua, and indeed Yahweh, through religion. This testing can lead to doubt, disobedience, and doing things our own way instead of trusting in Yahshua's guidance.
When Yahshua tells them "He who is without sin among you, let him throw a stone at her first." he convicted their conscience. If we also look at our lives when trying to cast judgement at someone we would be able to understand the motivation in our lives as well. Are we showing the same mercy as Yahshua, or are we holding firm to the doctrines that we have put in place ourselves?
After the crowd had left, Yahshua addresses the woman, not in condemnation but with mercy. Yahshua is quick to forgive, always knowing what we need. When He looks at us, it is not with distain for what we have done, but with love for who we are!
Thank you to Pastor Mark D. Vlad for sharing this incredible message with us this past Sabbath. It is important to be reminded to continually seek the will of Yahweh, and to be careful not to allow religion to harden our hearts towards people. As Pastor Mark says, Yahshua is all about people!
If you are looking for a church family that loves Yahweh, Yahshua, and all those He has created, we would love to welcome you with open arms! We meet every Saturday at 2pm for Sabbath service.
