Faith Above All Else
This past Sabbath, Eean Johnson-Schaar spoke to us about different aspects of faith. It’s a shield that we can use to quench fiery darts, but what does that mean for us?
In Hebrews 11, it talks about people who are remembered for their faith. None of these people were perfect, but the stories of their faith what they are remembered for. Faith does not require you to be perfect. It only requires Yahweh to be perfect. Abraham wasn’t perfect but believed that Yahweh was! Samson fell into the temptations of rage and lust but still remembered that Yahweh was always faithful and good. David had constant battles that had him outnumbered, but the Psalms are filled with his steadfastness to the faithfulness of Yahweh.
Having faith means trusting in Yahweh more than just for the promises he made. Moses did not abandon faith when Yahweh told him that he would not enter the promise land. David did not lose faith when Yahweh told him that he would not build the temple but that his son would. Paul did not lose faith when Yahweh would not remove his ailments. Trusting and having faith in Yahweh means having more faith in His hand than in the light He provides.
Faith is a marathon, not a sprint. Having faith means we trust in what we do not yet see. ( Hebrews 1-3) Upon facing the struggles that come with the decades of time, or even being murdered for their faith, these people kept holding on to Yahweh. How can we look back and see if your faith is growing and growing in the right direction? Judge your works as they align with the fruit of the spirit. (Galatians 5.22)
In times where our faith is tested, hold fast the truth that Yahweh is there through it all. If you need encouragement, or someone to walk alongside you in your journey, we would love to welcome you to our Sabbath service every Saturday at 2pm.
