Give Thanks!

“In everything give thanks; for this is the will of Yahweh in Yahshua for you.”

With Thanksgiving tomorrow, it seemed like an adequate time to talk about giving thanks.

This may seem like a simply and straightforward verse, but there is one word for you to focus on, "everything."

It is easy to be grateful when things are going your way. It is easy to be thankful when you have everything you need. It is NOT nearly as easy to feel the same way during hard times in life.This verse says that we need to give Yahweh thanks for everything. That word is an umbrella that covers whatever you can think of. Think of Paul, for example. He went through numerous hardships and mishaps in his life, and he never stopped praising and thanking Yahweh. In fact, we see several times in the Bible where Paul is in prison and he’s singing! Despite his circumstances in life, he never lost sight of the reason why he was going through it. The simple fact that we wake up everyday with breath in our lungs is a reason to be grateful.

Just because things don't always go the way that we want them to, doesn't mean that Yahweh doesn't care, or that He doesn't have a plan! He wants the best for us, but we also need to trust in Him in order for Him to make that happen. Like Paul, life for us will not also be easy or convenient. We need to place our faith in our Heavenly Father and praise him through all things.
