Miracles Do Happen
This past service, we heard from Pastor Mark who talked about the prelude to a few miracles in the New Testament.
Matthew 14:15-21 talks about when Yahshua fed well over 5,000 people. There are two significant things to note from this story. The first one is that the disciples were the ones who actually passed out the food. Yahshua blessed the meal, but let them distribute it. With His blessing, we are able to do miracles! The second thing is that we simply need to use what we already have. If you only have a few loaves of bread and some fish, then use it! The quantity of what we bring to Yahweh does not matter as long as we surrender it all to Him.
Just further down in Matthew 14:25-30 we see the famous story of Peter walking on water. Peter was able to do this for two reasons: he had faith in the power of Yahshua, and he had to be willing to let go of the boat. Sometimes miracles don't happen because we're still hanging on to the boat. We're too comfortable in the illusions of safety, and too afraid to let go and get out of our own way. Figure out what boats you’re clinging to in your life, and pray that Yahweh helps give you the strength to let it go.
Sometimes, there are things that we have to do, some action that needs to take place. In other cases, miracles happen simply because Yah wills it. We see an example of this in John 11:43-44. Yahshua raised Lazarus from the dead, not because he was some super holy and flawless person, but to show the power of Yahweh. Lazarus didn't have to do anything to earn it. We follow a wonderful, loving and gracious Father who wants the best for us in both this life and in the Kingdom of Heaven.
