Seeing the Whole Picture
This past Sabbath Pastor Mark talked about the importance of “Seeing the Whole Picture".” This lesson is taken from Exodus chapters 13 and 14. This takes place shortly after the Israelites left Egypt and headed towards the Red Sea and their promise land. The children of Israel ended up on many indirect paths and were faced with many problems, namely ingratitude.
Many people struggle with what they can't see or don't know. This fear of the unknown often makes them lash out against Yahweh and can cause them to no longer trust in His plan. We like to be in control and to know what's up ahead. Imagine sitting down to watch a movie or read a book for the very first time. Everything is new and unexpected. However, Yahweh is the author and director. He knows exactly how things will play out. Our job is to trust that He knows best, and keep moving forward.
Yahweh sees the entire picture; our needs, our wants, our struggles, our path. As soon as the Israelites came up against an obstacle, they immediately started blaming and question Yahweh instead of remembering that He is greater and above our situations.
Another lesson that the Israelites learned was that just because Yahweh was on their side, that didn't mean the enemy wouldn't pursue them. The armies of Egypt chased them into the Red Sea, but there was something Israel forgot. The enemy cannot see the entire picture either! Many of us should remember that fact in our own lives. The enemy might see us trapped with nowhere to go, but Yahweh has already orchestrated our escape and victory!
